Refunds & cancellation

Last updated 24 September 2026

In short:

  • Cancel any time, in a click, without giving a reason.
  • Changed your mind in the first 7 days? Full refund.
  • Something went wrong on my side? I'll refund it.

How to cancel

Just a Thought is a monthly subscription (R45 a month), sold by Phantom Design (Pty) Ltd, that renews automatically until you cancel. There's no minimum term. To stop future charges, use any of these:

  • The manage page: enter your email and you'll get a secure Paystack link to cancel or update your card. You keep receiving issues until the end of the month you've paid for.
  • The Unsubscribe link at the bottom of every issue. This stops the emails straight away and cancels billing.
  • Email me at hello@simon.co.za from the address you subscribed with, and I'll cancel it for you.

Once cancelled, you won't be charged again. You can resubscribe any time.

Refunds

First 7 days: if you cancel within 7 days of first subscribing, I'll refund that first payment in full, no questions asked. Just email me.

After that: monthly payments already made aren't refunded, including for the rest of a month you've cancelled part-way through. Instead, you keep getting issues until that month ends.

Mistakes are always refunded: a double charge, a charge after you cancelled, or issues you paid for that never arrived. Tell me and I'll put it right.

If I stop writing Just a Thought, I'll cancel every subscription and refund any month that was paid for but not delivered.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Paystack. I process them within 5 business days of agreeing to them. Your bank may take a few more days to show it, and it will always be within 30 days.

Please talk to me before disputing a charge

If a charge looks wrong, email me first. It's quicker than a dispute through your bank, and I'd rather fix it. This doesn't limit your right to dispute a charge with your bank.

Your legal rights

This policy is on top of, and doesn't reduce, your rights under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
