In 2010 I published a column on Fin24.com lamenting the lack of decent connectivity options for small to medium-sized organisations in South Africa. This sparked a discussion on Twitter and me being contacted by MWEB with a suggestion that I select a non-profit or non-governmental organisation in South Africa to test MWEB’s uncapped business ADSL service.
MWEB believes it has the solution to small organisations’ internet needs and I want you to test their claim for me. But instead of me choosing an organisation, I want you to.
So here’s the deal: if you’re a non-governmental or non-profit organisation, tell us why you need the bandwidth and what you intend to do with it, and we’ll put it to the vote. The winners (we’ve got two connections to give away) will be decided by readers of this website.
If your organisation needs the bandwidth please post a short comment below telling us what you do and why you need it.
You’ll notice a ‘like’ button on each comment, please use that to vote for the organisation you think should win.
At competition’s end (to be announced), we’ll select the two organisations with the most votes and each will receive three months of uncapped ADSL from MWEB.
Please pay careful attention to the following conditions:
- In order to qualify your organisation must be non-profit (NPO) or non-governmental (NGO) and registered within the Republic of South Africa.
- Entrants must already have an ADSL-activated Telkom telephone line as we can not ensure availability in all areas. Please do not enter if you do not have an existing Telkom line.
- Two connections are being given away – one to a business with 1 – 10 users (computers) and another to one with 11 – 50. Please ensure that you include the size of your organistion in your post.
- The judges decision is final – meaning that myself and representatives of MWEB will have final say on the winner.
- In case of a tie we will go into over-time and allow the tied organisations to motivate for more votes.
- Please keep the descriptions of your business and motivation for winning to under 250 words.
And go…
