I’ve been booked to DJ at Tings and Times on the 24th of September for their closing down party. Tings is probably my favourite hang out in the whole world; they have the best food, vibe and atmosphere of any place I’ve been.

The good news is that Tings is not closing down forever, just moving – the building they’re in has been bought out and they have no choice. The party on the 24th of September is going to be HOOJ. I’ll be playing along with DJ Bob, Tidal Waves and other bands (I’ll edit this post and add a full line-up as soon as I can get hold of one).

Nou maar goed.

Well, I did it.

I drank a little too much beer, took to the stage att 88 in Norwood last night and arsed my name up good and proper.

It was an awesome experience in that I learnt a few things about the dynamics of stand up comedy, I had assumed that it was a lot easier than it actually is. Anyway, the other comedians were great; Collin Moss, Loyiso, Nina and… some other dudes. All very encouraging.

I’m not sure whether I’ll ever do it again though.

And no, I didn’t record it and it won’t be appearing in any of my podcasts. Believe me, this is something you will thank me for later.

While we’re talking podcasts, a quick update: The Narrow return from Belgium next week and then we’ll get down to editing out some of the recorded material from Oppikoppi. There are also some comedians interested in contributing and I need to sift through the few contributions that have come in from unknown sources and then we’ll get down to releasing Episode One – the idea is too make it something actually worth listening to, you see.

Tonight I’ll be doing my first ever stand up comedy at 88 in Norwood, Johannesburg, along with other South African comedians.

I’m a little nervous and almost entirely sure that I will be making my name arse…
