Browser Wars

Simon.co.za - the way it's 'sposed to beThis website looks a bit dodgy under Internet Explorer 7. God knows why – I’m trying to figure it out at the moment, but I don’t have much time available. I had it working and looking perfect in IE 6, Firefox and, my new favourite browser, Safari. But alas, with the release of Vista and IE 7, Microsoft have hurled a spanner into the works.

Several of the other sites I maintain have fallen prey to the IE render-monster as well. If you’re wondering what this page should look like, I’ve pinned a window-grab.

Thanks Microsoft! I wasn’t busy enough already! Bleeding hell…

  • I don't doubt that many of the problems are my fault - my point is that it was working fine before. On all three browsers. And now it isn't :(

I don't usually validate my xhtml, just because I don't have the time nor inclination - if it looks right and works right in all the browsers I care about, then who cares whether or not it validates?

But now my opinion is changing - because if I had validated then maybe I wouldn't have this problem now...
  • try fixing some of your xhtml errors:

Specifically, IE7 is a stickler for good DOCTYPE tags, so make sure yours is right.
