A cover that should be covered

This month’s copy of Digital Life magazine has the most tasteless cover I have seen since Scope magazine decided to put Miss Komatipoort sucking on a koeksister on the cover of their 1984 Christmas special.

I think Digital Life as a brand and a publication has real potential and the rest of this month’s issue is looking good, but I have to call them on the cover. Come on guys, you can do better than that. This poor model looks like she has just given birth to a litter of mobile phones and one of the least sexiest television sets I have ever seen. By the way – nobody wants CRT televisions any more, especially not with static snow as opposed to a high-definition picture. As if her makeup wasn’t bad enough. Perhaps if she had given birth to an HD TV I would feel less embarrassed for her. Eish. Look on, if you can bear it:

Tut tut. How unfortunate.

I kinda like it. It certainly stand out enough for you to write about it….

‘Stand out’ does not mean good. It means it draws attention – sometimes because it is good, other times because it sucks so badly. In grade 10 I wrote an essay about atrocities being committed in the Second World War – does that mean they were good?

And if you’re going to defend something I’m criticising, at least have the gumption to use your real email address, ‘J’ – otherwise we’ll go ahead and assume you work for said publication…

As I said in my post, I think Digital Life has big potential and this month’s issue has great content. Pity about the kak cover. I’ve had my fair share of design disasters before. Sometimes you need to remember to laugh at yourself too.
